The English translation for the German word for sinuses literally means “forehead caves,” which explains exactly what they are. Non-Allergic Rhinitis

Unlike an allergy it does not involve the immune system. An allergic reaction occurs when the immune system overreacts to a harmless substance known as an allergen. Non-allergic rhinitis is caused by irritants or other stimuli that cause symptoms identical to those caused by allergens.

Symptoms can be triggered by eating, cologne or perfumes, certain odors, physical irritants like dust and pollutants, and temperature changes. The most common symptoms are stuffy nose, runny nose, sneezing, post nasal drip.
