The simple answer is often, yes. Patients with chronic sinusitis frequently also suffer from allergic rhinitis. Unfortunately some of the symptoms of allergic rhinitis and chronic sinusitis overlap.
Nasal congestion, post nasal drip, sinus pressure, and even chronic cough are symptoms that are commonly seen in both conditions.
Undergoing sinus surgery will relieve the symptoms that are actually caused by chronic sinusitis, and subsequently make allergy symptoms significantly more responsive to allergy treatments.
